PROACTIVE MANAGEMENT
OF UNCERTAINTIES

HANDBOOKS & TOOL

EFFECTIVE ANALYSIS of PROJECTS

CREATES SUSTAINABLE BOTTOM LINES

THE HANDBOOK: PROACTIVE UNCERTAINTY MANAGEMENT

THE BOOK IS ALL ABOUT:

  • Proactive: Being ahead of the game before it’s needed
  • Leadership: That something needs to be led and managed
  • Uncertainty: That some risks and opportunities that may affect
  • Successive: Successively addressing the most important uncertainties
  • Principle: That a principle/method is followed

The Successive Principle is a management tool that supports decision-makers in making the right decisions on an informed basis.

This can ensure significantly improved realism, as well as crucial new information in budgets, schedules, financial analysis, etc.

It’s specifically designed to handle the turbulence and uncertainty of modern society and build robustness into companies’ bottom lines.

SUCCESSIVPRINCIPPEN (THE SUCCESSIVE PRINCIPLE)

THE BOOK IS ABOUT:
The practical application of the Successive Principle and is written in Swedish.

Projects are becoming more and more complex. Traditional calculations and schedules are accurate, but don’t capture the complexity and uncertainty that projects cause. On the other hand, the Successive Principle, which also provides a basis for proactively minimizing surprises in projects.

The Successive Principle is a project management method used to control both time and cost.

The purpose of the method is to:

  • Identify and evaluate project uncertainties
  • Visualize the relationship between cost and/or execution time and probability (the so-called S-curve)
  • Get a shared view of the project scope and uncertainties
  • Develop an action plan for the ongoing cost and time management of the project.

“The Successive Principle – A Handbook” presents the theory behind the method, the results of the uncertainty analysis and how to perform a cost and time analysis. A simplified application of the method is also described.

It provides examples of how the method can be used in the project process to manage uncertainties and support decision-making. Finally, an account of the experiences with the methodology and a collection of examples from completed projects and their results.

FUTURA PROGRAM – SUPPORTING THE ENTIRE PROCESS

DATA PREPARATION, COLLECTION & CALCULATION

This program supports the entire analysis process.

1) Collecting descriptions of e.g. project deliverables, assumptions, the analysis group, etc.

2) Collecting keywords for uncertainties and grouping them, collecting descriptions and estimates.

3) Calculation of e.g. S-curves and the list of Top10 uncertainties.

4) Follow-up on action plans.

5) Presentation of results in one analysis report.
